Martina Jaatinen, M.A.
Therapy is the building of an incredibly unique, vulnerable, and brave partnership, and I am honored to be trusted to get to know individuals deeply and walk with them as they take steps towards the lives they want to live.
Our lives are greatly shaped by how we are loved and by how we love others. While love is a centering aspect of life, it’s also something not always talked about, even with those with whom we feel closest. It’s vulnerable, and maybe even intimidating, to talk about such a deep part of ourselves. Our experiences of love are shaped by more than just our current circumstances and relationships. It is also shaped by our histories: childhood, family, past relationships, environment, communities, spirituality, and more.
Martina is dedicated to walking with clients through their experiences of love, both past and present, in order to take steps towards a more fulfilling life. With a background in working with parents, families, children and teens, young adults and adults, and couples, Martina knows that therapy first begins with developing trust and safety together and is maintained by an ongoing partnership focused on the client’s goals. Martina hopes to build partnerships based on a foundation of understanding, respect, and resilience.
Martina has worked with clients navigating early parenthood through empty nesting, and believes that building strong relationships within families is incredibly rewarding. There is no perfect handbook on parenting or how to raise a strong family, and learning every day about how to grow in these areas is an integral part of shaping one’s life. Martina brings her experience in parent management training, positive discipline, compassionate communication, and family and sibling conflict into her work with couples to foster growth in the therapy space and at home.
Martina believes in working with the whole person, where each and every area of life as well as each identity, strength, hope, concern, and struggle are welcomed to open up and consider. Martina takes a holistic, systemic approach in her goal of understanding each client deeply and hopes for clients to feel respected, safe, and important.
- I live by the philosophy that
- a life well lived is a life well loved.
- I could spend every day
- outside, in the sunshine, with the people that I love.
- As a therapist, I
- strive to connect on a human level, person-to-person, showing my care and commitment to clients as they allow me into their lives. I hope for clients to feel seen, known, and understood in each session.
